Borrowed from Hazard website but good information for all of us to understand.
Accounts are linked automatically by the Account History tool when both linked accounts used a common IP address (regardless of when.) This provides a starting point for further investigation into a player's background. The results displayed are in no way conclusive. That is, being linked does not mean that the two accounts are in fact the same player. When conducting a proper background check on a player, one should always use the "View Link Info" button, displayed on the linked account line, to further investigate the link. At the top of the page is a table that displays the IP address(es) that linked the two accounts together. If the linking IP address is used at (essentially) the same time on both accounts one can (safely - in most cases) assume that the two accounts are shared by the same player (or household.) Please remember, even if you can show that the two accounts originate from the same IP address there is still no proof that the accounts are used by a single player. There is always the possibility of a brother, sister, mother father, friend, internet cafe user, etc... that plays at the same location as the other player.
Some words of wisdom (with minor edits and revisions) by JimTheOldGrunt:
All that the tool reports is the information that is logged by an America's Army server. If anyone starts editing those logs for any reason, they lose all credibility. Being linked to a banned account is not the same as being the banned account. If some server/clan admin does not know how to interpret the logs and starts kicking/banning based on what they think is proof, then the person that is affected should go to www.anticheatinc.com and request a Background Check. Once the background check is complete, direct the server/clan admin to that link so that they can see the real deal.
